USPS Augmented Reality

Personally I think augmented reality is really really cool and I see great future for augmented reality as a new way for people to insert interactive parts in documentation for example which would normally be only available in print. Manuals can now become alive and give more information than they do at this moment.

This is just one example you can use. And when I try to explain augmented reality to people who for the first time get in touch with augmented reality it can be hard to find a real life example to explain. USPS has a great example which can help to understand one of the future uses of augmented reality. They use it to help people pick the correct type of box for the shipping.

If you send out stuff on a regular basis via a shipping company you have encountered the problem of the standard size shipping boxes. You get a shipping box and it turns out that the thing you try to send is not fitting in the box. Now USPS has a solution for this. By using augmented reality you can look if you stuff will fit in a standard shipping box before ordering one.
